Hello and Welcome to The Flâneur Chronicles!
Hi internet friends! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Ashton Mucha.
Now here's the part where I tell you that I'm a flâneur and this blog is a place where I'll be keeping track of my adventures, but you may be asking what this "Flâneur Chronicles" business is all about, well:
Flâneur: a person who strolls around and observes society.
Chronicle: a chronological record or written account of a series of events.
Now that's just my obnoxious way of saying Hi, I'm a tourist, and this is where I'll be sharing my travels with my internet friends AKA you.
Some of you may be asking why I didn't parody Bridget Jones's Diary or one of the many travel memoirs because let's face it, that's what this is right? I should take this opportunity to deny, deny, deny, but instead, I'll leave that comparison up to you. By no means am I embodying Elizabeth Gilbert and writing something that compares to Eat, Pray, Love, so if you're looking for stories about overloading on pasta and striking poses on a yoga mat then I'm sorry to tell you that you're in the wrong place. But I will be able to offer you the occasional seafood experience, narrate my spider encounters, educate you with Aussie slang, share my frustration in spelling 'realized' like 'realised,' talk to you about life in a dorm and eating in the Hogwarts dining room, teach you about rugby and cricket given that I actually learn about both sports, reiterate how scary it is to witness cars driving on the wrong side of the road, and provide you with pictures of me and koalas stoned from munching on eucalyptus (the koalas, not me). And yes, this is my not very enticing statement that I hope will in fact actually entice you to continue reading and not tempt you to click the bright red X in your top left corner (that's right, look away from the red X). So, if you don't find me too obnoxious and somewhat humorous then I'd say we're making progress. Oh, and thanks for sticking around. I look forward to sharing my stories with all of you over the next several months.
xoxo (no not Gossip Girl, it's just me), Ashton.
